Agriturismo Villanova

As planned we arrived at Agriturismo Villanova right at 5:00 pm.  This place is, once again, in the middle of nowhere, on the top of a hill just about 5 min drive from Levano town centre.   We loved this place the moment we pulled up.  Basically you turn off the road by the fire hall, come to a gate, ring a bell and the gate opens.  You drive across a small and narrow steel bridge and up a very steep and narrow and twisted road all the way up to the top making 180 degree turns as you climb up.  When you get to the top you are rewarded not only with spectacular view and serenity but with an amazing little Agriturismo and great people who run it, plus Giro the local dog!  For reasons unknown to us, we got an upgrade, so instead of staying in the main house we are staying in La Canonica apartment.  This two story apartment is attached to the church and it used to be a former residence of the local priest in the late 1600s. During WWII the priest used to hide 3 monks in this house from the Germans.  The apartment is beautifully restored with all the creature comforts you can imagine: it even has two bathrooms. The apartment is on the right side of the church so really you might say we are sleeping on the right side of the almighty himself.  What a great find this place was – we are so happy!!

On the eight day God said "Let the Wala's sleep next to me, for they suffered well in London and they deserve a good night rest" and that is how we got La Canonica - divine intervention you might say.
