Cologne Cathedral

High Cathedral of St.Peter is a Roman Catholic church in Cologne, Germany. It is a renowned monument of German Catholicism and Gothic architecture and  a World Heritage Site. It is Germany’s most visited landmark, attracting an average of 20,000 people a day.  There are number of very old relics in the Cathedral including the Shrine of the Three Kings, bones of the wife of on of the early Polish King Mieszko II, The Medieval statue of St. Christopher , welcomes travellers, the Crucifix of Bishop Gero, 10th century, the oldest known large crucifix and an insane amount of stained glass windows including one very modern one that hurts your eyes looking at it.

    My favorite German landmark 😉 and I realize of course that I’ve only ever visited during summer at the height of tourist season, but it looks absolutely dead there! Did you manage to see more of Cologne?

    You are correct there was almost no one there. We did not see a lot of it. Just walked up and down the old city where all the shops are then we decided to walk back to the arena which is a lot closer than it looks. Still it was a nice trip out.
