This post should really come with its Health Warning – this treat, which is about the size of a small polar bear, is a lot easier to order than it is to finish.  Vaffelhuset is the famous ice cream shop in Kerteminde.  During summer it is open until 11 pm.  Day or night, rain or shine there is always a line up here.  Their special – called Kerteminde Special is 50 Danish Crowns which is about €6.5.  Let me walk you through it.  Fresh in house made sugar cone, light, not too sweet and delicious.  On the bottom of the cone you get a healthy scoop of fresh meringue to keep the cone dry and crispy.  Three scoops of ice cream of your choice: I had banana, strawberry and black cherry – all fresh and home made. This gets dipped in black chocolate which sets hard immediately.  On top of that you get a full serving of soft serve ice cream: vanilla, strawberry or a mixture of both and a choice of topping, nuts, sprinkles, coco power etc.  To top is all off a large chocolate meringue cookie  It takes about 20 min to eat this treat – OMG what was I thinking?!
