It is quite warm and humid – a walk down by the Danube offers not only great views of the Buda side of the city but also a nice and refreshing breeze. From the Parliament Building, by the Jewish Memorial and all the way up to the Gellert Hotel famous for its baths – this is a great city which so much more to see.
What’s with all the shoes and candles? And are you guys going to one of the thermal baths? That’d be top of my list! Always wanted to visit Budapest…
The shoes are part of a memorial concept dedicated to the Jews shot at the edge of the river at the end of WWII. As far as the baths go, we did not go to the Gellert Hotel or any of the other famous ones, but we did sample the spectacular one we had in our hotel. Let’s just say that we believe the water came from one of the natural springs and we were taking part in that Budapest tradition – umkay… 🙂
