On the other side of the great old town buildings is a narrow little street called ul. Mariacka.  The street is lined on both sides with artisan shoppes where you can find all sorts of amber and silver jewellery and pretty much everything else made out of amber which in Gdansk is king.  In one of the shoppes we even got to hold a 1.5kg piece of unfinished amber which is amazingly light and is worth almost as much as our used car.  Incredible.
