There are a lot of impressive sights in the world and a great number of wonderful buildings. To me there are very few as impressive and as memorable as the Malbork Castle. The sheer size of it, the scale of buildings and the magnificent decor and layout are simply stunning. Malbork is 3 castles in one, one with its own moat. The castle had enough food to be self sustaining for 2 years with up to 400 guests. It has its own wells, and workshops, a hospital and an armoury. It was a place of distinction and a place of occasion where famous people would be invited to be guests, one of which was Nicholas Copernicus, on several occasions. We really were lucky with out visit to the castle as there was some sort of period festival and celebration taking place. Lots of people dressed up in traditional clothes, armies doing play fighting as well as good beer and food for all.
