The Principality of Monaco is a sovereign city-state, located on the French Riviera. France borders the country on three sides while the other side borders the Mediterranean Sea. Monaco has an area of 2.02 km2 and a population of about 37,800; it is the second smallest and the most densely populated country in the world. Monaco’s most populous Quartier is Monte Carlo. In 2014, it was noted that about 30% of the population was made up of millionaires, similar to Zürich or Geneva. Prince Albert’s II family has ruled Monaco, with small interruptions, since 1297.
Monaco is a world that is difficult to comprehend. After seeing the first Bently, Ferrari or a McLaren I was excited, then you seen another 50 of each. We walked down what you would call an auto row. The cheapest shop on the block was Mercedes, with a $200,000 AMG S cabrio in the window. Bentley in Monaco is like yellow cab in Edmonton. For taxi cars we saw Mercedes G Wagon and a Maserati Quatoroporte. A small boat, that you would not be embarrassed to moor is about €5 million, a nice boat you could have a part on costs about €200 million, a small 180m2 flat costs about €10 million. From a relative stand point gelato is still cheaper in Monaco than in Marseilles and that is all I was really interested in, the rest of it just makes your head spin.
