Old Town Copenhagen

Part of our 15km walk around Copenhagen included the old town.  We went by the Round Tower which was an astoronomical  observatory built by King  Christian IV.  Instead of stairs, a 7.5-turn spiral ramp forms the only access way to the tower top observatory as well as the Library Hall and the Bell-Ringer’s Loft, both located above the church.  This design was chosen so that the king could ride his carriage to the top, or go on his horse instead of walking.  We also saw the Rosenborg Castle, where the Danish crown jewels are located, the adjacent park, an old Russian Orthodox church, and the most posh  hotel in Denmark where Madonna stayed and other distinguished guests.  Of course the town square and the Royal Chapel and the Parliament building and another huge bridge that connects Denmark to Sweden.
