The name of this little village of 1500 just rolls off your tongue – Riquewihr, Riquewihr, Riquewihr. This little village is located about 5km from Ribeauvillé or 6km if you take the scenic route through the winding roads leading through the vineyards. Riquewihr is an old wine trading village , famous for it architecture and for the Riesling and other great wines produced in the village. During WW II only two bombs fell on this village. Riquewihr has a Michelin-starred restaurant and a lot of wineries. The village is a member of the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France “The most beautiful villages of France” association and it shows.
These beautiful French towns you are visiting this weekend remind me of the movie Chocolat.
Great observation! Guess what movie we are watching tonight? Thank you for that.
I think I’ll introduce Lauren to that gem. A nice pot of hot chocolate and some of the lemon loaf she made yesterday should make for a nice break from our grey sky day.
Great idea. I won’t mention anything about 23C and my sunburned arms. Get her all excited about France for that back packing trip she will do with Boris!
So quaint. Imagine living there though – so small!
Also – S said it also made her think of Chocolat 😉
Fun town, I would go back there now.
