Treviso

Today is our last full  day in Italy so we are visiting Treviso.  This small city of about 80,000  people is actually quite famous. Treviso became a city in 89 BCE, the main road leading up to the Venetian defence walls is lined with spectacular villas on both sides of the road.  Because of its strategic geographical location, the city has been involved in many wars and armed conflicts over the course of its long history.  Treviso is also known for being the original production area of the Prosecco wine, and being the town where popular Italian dessert Tiramisu was created.  The city is home to the headquarters of clothing retailer Benetton, Sisley, Stefanel Diadora and Lotto Sport Italia, appliance maker De’Longhi, and bicycle maker Pinarello, that is quite the achievement for a small city in the middle of nowhere.  There is also a lot of really good gelato in Treviso. Fun town to explore on a lazy day.

    It looks like Ravenna

I think Ravenna looks bigger and brighter, but the main square looks very similar to Treviso. Both nice places I am sure.
